Educators As Business Professionals

When you think of “business professionals” how many of us think of educators as business professionals.  Likely few of us think of educators this way, however, some educators would definitely earn this distinction.  One such educator is Mr. Ngamange of South Africa.  It’s for this reason he’s being included in Madison Who’s Who directory of professionals.

Madison Who’s Who wants to be the first to congratulate Mr. Ngamange on this achievement by notifying his peers that Mr. Ngamange has in fact reached a level of recognizable success in his professional field of Training/Education.
Mr. Ngamange serves in the position of Career Specialist for The Global Training Network. In this capacity, he is involved in training, education and employment facilitator. His broad expanse of experience in academia enables him to efficiently handle his divergent duties. Securing an enviable reputation with a proven record, Mr. Ngamange’s employment portfolio includes such positions as college principal for
Peninsula Training Academy and Academy of Learning and college academic master for Western Cape Private College. Motivated by the many challenges his position brings, he attributes his success to his networking abilities with professionals. Looking to the future, Mr. Ngamange plans to remain in his current role and continue growing in the business arena. The Global Training Network, established and commencing operations in 2002, engages in training, education and employment network services within 12 countries in the world. Located in Cape Town, South Africa, the Network employs an experienced, seasoned and dedicated staff of trained and skilled individuals who oversee, manage and facilitate its daily operations

Office Bound Professionals at Risk

The professional directory Madison Who’s Who contains a large list of professionals from almost every occupation and every walk of life.  Many of these professionals are office-bound, and according to a new study, may be at risk for health problems as a result…of their laser printers.

In a small study, published in Environmental Science and Technology, researchers found that nearly 30% of the 62 printers they tested — including laser printers from Canon, HP, Toshiba and Ricoh — emitted high levels of ultra-fine toner particles, which were potentially as hazardous as cigarette smoke. In one Brisbane office the concentration of particulate matter per square inch was five times higher during working hours than nonworking hours.

However, there is no need to throw your printer out the window yet. Many critics of the study state there are some unwarranted assertions that study makes, and that there may not actually be a health risk.  The EPA has not done any recent research on the health effects of printer emissions.  Sharon Worthy of the U.S. Dept. of Labor says “historically laser printers have presented no known hazard in the workplace

Networking Sites Under Attack

The growth of online social networking websites has made effective global networking more viable than ever.  Sites such as MySpace and Facebook are one of the biggest online global phenomenons.  These sites have offered some of the most effective global networking strategies on both a personal as well as a business level.  In the first six months of 2007 alone, the number of users of these sites reached 6.5 million worldwide.

One of the fastest growing networking sites goes by the title of Facebook. However, it appears that Facebook is under attack from a competing social networking site.

The three founders of ConnectU say Mark Zuckerberg agreed to finish computer code for their site, but repeatedly stalled and eventually created Facebook using their ideas. The lawsuit’s allegations against Zuckerberg include fraud, copyright infringement and misappropriation of trade secrets. It asks the court to shutter Facebook and give control of the company and its assets to ConnectU’s founders.  Facebook has responded by asking a judge to dismiss the lawsuit.

Before the end of the year, Digg plans to launch a an alerting feature to allow users to get email alerts like weekly or daily digests about stories on a particular topic or stories suggested by friends.  The site will also add a dedicated images section that will let users submit images to Digg, as well as an engine that will be used to recommend stories to individual users based on what that person’s particular interests.
