Madison Who’s Who Recognizes Judy B. McPherson, Ph.D.

Once upon a time, during the good old days of teaching, parents supported the teachers and students paid attention to every word in class, actually did their homework, and respected individuals in authority. Whether this is a rose colored view or a veritable truth of the past. It is the past. Today in the present Judy B. McPherson, Ph.D. has her feet planted firmly on the ground as she teaches her students at Paine College. She is an Associate Professor of Biology, teaching courses in Technological Biology.

Paine College, located in Augusta, Georgia, was established in 1882 as a result of a union of collaboration between Black and White Methodists who believed in church related education, then it was called The Paine Institute.  It would be an institution for the newly freed and under-served people.  Many wanted to establish this institute as a way to train preachers and teachers to educate the freed people. In 1903, the Paine Institute was renamed Paine College and became known as a historically black, private, church-related educational college. This college’s Department of Biology is a combination of the disciplines of chemical, physics, and mathematics.  The curriculum of these programs is tailored for careers in health care, secondary education, and graduate studies.

Dr. McPherson knows the importance of her role as a teacher. She strives and adapts in order to get her message across. She encourages her students to learn even if that means learning by failure, and has concerns that our result centered society pushes students to value the grade more than the lesson.

Dr. McPherson received her Ph.D. in Science and Education from the Texas A&M University.  She is affiliated with National Social Science Association, National Wildlife Society, and National Geographic Society.

Outside the walls of Academia, Judy McPherson maintains a close relationship with her mother Rose Mary McPherson.  She also enjoys getting back to Mother Nature, which allows her to take and active part in the life cycle as she is a responsible hunter.  She is also an avid reader.

Judy B. McPherson, Ph.D. can be found on the Madison Who’s Who Directory where she is looking forward to networking with you.
