Madison Who’s Who Recognizes József Répási

One of Central Europe’s leaders of the pack and go getters, József Répási founded
Ubichem Research in 1996. Ubichem Research works hand and hand with UBICHEM Plc. The company was founded as a fine chemical marketing and distribution company, and to this day UBICHEM Plc. is unique in its operation in supplying an extremely diverse product range, while maintaining high standards to its quality conscious customer base. In addition to being Ubichem Research’s founder, he is its Managing Director. In this capacity he leads the administration of the company, is responsible for its day to day operations and is the head of its board of directors.

It is no surprise that József Répási’s talents as an innovator in chemistry, landed him ninth on Patentdocs list of top 100 inventors. He has earned the respect of his peers in the industry and has published many aritcles. One article is an oft cited report, co-authored by Ubichem’s Andreás Szabó and published in the Journal of Organic Chemistry, describing the results obtained in scale-up of Sonogashira chemistry. The group’s findings suggest that by using supported palladium in coupling reactions, chemists may be able to exploit the benefits of homogeneous catalysis but retain the ease of heterogeneous catalyst separation.

József Répási began his academic career attending Eötvös Loránd University or ELTE. A university with a long an lauded history. Founded in 1635 it was named University of Budapest (Budapesti Tudományegyetem) until 1921. The language of education was Latin until 1844, when Hungarian was introduced as an official language. The university received its current name Eötvös Loránd University as a nod to physicist Loránd Eötvös in 1950. Mr. Répási earned a Masters Degree in Science, specializing in Pharmaceutical Chemistry at ELTE, in 1986.

He calls Budapest home, a city widely regarded as one of the most beautiful cities in Europe. Being Hungary’s capital and its largest city it is its heart and this makes it one of Central Europe’s important hubs. A central hub and residing at the heart of his life is József Répási’s family, he is married with two sons. He has a profound interest in the natural world and is devoted to another family there, the family Orchidaceae, for one of his favorite pastimes is growing orchids.
