Madison Who’s Who Recognizes Stuart J. Sidney Ph. D.

If you have an interest in the Theory of Interest, sign up for one of Stuart J. Sidney’s, Ph.D. classes. He teaches this subject at the University of Connecticut at undergraduate and graduate levels. This is a timely subject, an economic theory that deals with banking practices of savings and investment. Dr. Sidney also teaches other disciplines in the Math Department of the University of Connecticut, from the basic undergraduate level to Graduate level specialties. The courses he leads, in the undergraduate category are: Finite Mathematics, first and second year calculus, real analysis, complex analysis, probability, abstract algebra, problem seminars, theory of interest, mathematics for teachers, calculus of variations, combinatorics, and set theory. On the graduate level he teaches: real analysis, complex analysis, measure theory, functional analysis, topics, and as previously stated – theory of interest.

If it’s not feasible to attend his classes there are still opportunities to avail yourself of his ideas on mathematics. His writings have been published and are easily found. His paper Uniform Algebras Generated by Unimodular Function appears in the book Contemporary Mathematics: Function Spaces. This is a volume that presented papers from the Fourth Conference on Function Spaces. The conference brought together mathematicians interested in various problems within the general area of function spaces, allowing for discussion and exchange of ideas on those problems and related questions. The lectures covered a broad range of topics, including spaces and algebras of analytic functions of one and of many variables (and operators on such spaces), spaces of Banach-valued functions, isometries of function spaces, geometry of Banach spaces, and related subjects. Banach algebras happen to be an area of Stuart J. Sidney’s expertise. His other research interests are: Analysis – especially functional analysis, geometry, and combinatorics.

To speak about his education could not help but mention the Ivy League. He received an A.B at Yale and then he left behind his life as an Eli to matriculate at Harvard, where he earned his Masters and his Ph.D. His most recent honor was received on April 22, 2009 when he was inducted into the Connecticut Academy of Arts and Sciences (CAAS).

A devoted family man, Dr. Sidney enjoys the time he spends with his family. He is an avid swimmer. Reading is one of his favorite pastimes.

Stuart J. Sidney Ph. D. Can be found in the Madison Who’s Who Directory, and he is looking forward to networking with you.
