One of South Africa’s foremost resources experts, Mr. Gerald Kemp is the Chief Investment Officer for Pamodzi Resources Fund. Launched on October 1, 2007, Pamodzi Resources Fund is South Africa’s largest private equity fund. On September 5, 2007 Pamodzi Investment Holdings announced that Gerald Kemp would be heading the dream team in managing the, then soon to be launched, Pamodzi Resources Fund. At this time Mr. Kemp was head of the resources unit at Rand Merchant Bank. His background is as a minerals economist and a mining engineer who spent 22 years at Anglo American’s gold division. Gerard Kemp has twice received Financial Mail’s accolade as the country’s top gold analyst. It is widely acknowledged that Mr. Kemp has been instrumental in altering the demographic face of the local mining and natural resources sector. Among the many impressive examples of his trailblazing efforts is his being a dynamic force behind the structuring of major black empowerment transactions involving De Beers, Rio Tinto, Kumba/Exxaro, Mvela Resources/Goldfields, ARM/Harmony, Shanduka Resources and Anglo Inyosi Coal.

As a goal oriented young man he earned diplomas in Labor Relations and Management Development from UNISA, the largest university in South Africa. He then went on to achieve his Masters in Science from the University of Witwatersrand, Johannesburg, where The School of Mining Engineering is recognised as one of the top mining/engineering school departments in the world.

His life is made all the more full being married to Lulu and watching their three children: Ruan, Regardt, and Marli grow and learn – discovering their own way.
