The enlivening and highly adaptive Theta Grimaud is perfect for her role of the Clinical Supervisor of Occupational Therapy for WellSpan Health at York Hospital. WellSpan Health is an integrated health system serving the greater Adams-York County region. As a community-based, not-for-profit organization, WellSpan is dedicated to improving the health and well-being of the people it serves. York Hospital is the region’s leader in advanced specialty care. It is a teaching hospital that serves a population of over a half million in south central Pennsylvania. Occupational therapy’s primary goal is to enable people in the midst of a struggle to participate in everyday life using environment modification and adapting the activity to better support participation.

Her professional life began when Theta Grimaud was hired as a York city police officer. She served as a patrol officer for over 13 years. She was a member of the Hostage Negotiation Team and was an informal spokesperson to various community groups. She taught First Aid and CPR to fellow officers, was an EMT, and developed critical incident first aid kits and basic first aid kits for each police car. She has been an Occupational Therapist since 1992, at York Hospital since 1994 where she’s been the clinical supervisor since 2000. She has developed programs that promote OT and quality care. She assists with nursing student education. She speaks for community programs and continues to teach CPR.

She received her B.A. in Sociology from East Stroudsburg State College and a B.S. in Occupational Therapy at Towson State University.

An insatiable explorer, Theta Grimaud enjoys scuba diving, collecting rocks, and traveling. Reading and history take her on expeditions of inner discovery. She has been in a committed relationship since 1991 and they have six children of the furry four-footed variety: 3 dogs and 3 cats.
